  1. Spatial Awareness – creating a safe space in therapy, school and home.
  2. Self-Regulation –Becoming more aware of personal cues that let you know you are getting tense, anxious or excited. – Learning a range of calming techniques to find the ones that work best for you in different situations. Each participant will be introduced to at least 12 calming techniques and will be given a pictorial handout to help remember them.
  3. Stress management– Learn to become aware of early signs of stress and learn ways to recuperate throughout the day so stress doesn’t build
  4.  Focus and Attention span – Develop techniques to help decrease impulsivity, increase ability to focus, and relate this to self-control or the ability to resist temptation.
  5. Empathy – work on different forms of attunement and connection.  This is a major skill for connecting with clients and for your clients to develop compassion and healthy social relationships.
  6. Dealing with strong feeling safely – Learn some concrete technique to deal with anger, anxiety, grief, etc.
  7. Handling conflicts and bullying without bullying back
  8. Other issues or themes that participants are interested in.

Each day we will use movement and discussion to cover two of the above themes. Students will explore how these embodied themes can be used for themselves and in their work.  We will look at how to apply them to populations that participants are working with.

This workshop will be based on an Embodied Social Emotional curriculum, Disarming the Playground, Violence Prevention through movement - authored by the presenter.
