2012 Inspires Greece DMT Tour Open for Application

Inspirees DMT workshop(family and group therapy)will be held on Oct 20-21, 2012 in Athens, Greece.  The workshop will be led by our Greek dance therapy and family psychotherapist. The workshop is open for registration and free for IICAT students.

The aim of this workshop is to familiarize participants with the basic concepts of the theory and practice of Dance Movement Psychotherapy. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss some theoretical issues as well as to take part in an experiential group. In addition, they will have the opportunity to connect theoretical components with their own experience in the group. Furthermore, the application of Dance Movement Psychotherapy to different patients populations (adults, children, families) will be presented using videos with an emphasis in families and couples.

The workshop includes

  • Theory and history of Dance Movement Psychotherapy
  • Movement observation and analysis of individual as well as family and couple
  • Dance Movement Therapy with different populations (theoretical and video presentation)
  • Experiential group

Workshop Introduction

In this creative workshop, Zvika Frank, a renowned dance/movement therapist from Rotterdam will give the participants a stunning experience of “moving the body and the mind will follow”.  Zvika will show you the power of dance/movement therapy and how the non-verbal communication can help different nationalities with different background get deeply connected as human beings. The body awareness will be enhanced in order to facilitate the authentic movement and release the true emotions of individuals.  There will be various creative, enlightening and insightful body exercises, discussion and sharing during the session in order to feel connected with other members in the group.  The workshop will help you to open your body, mind and heart to embrace a new experience in life and get prepared for your study in the university.

About Instructor

Zvika Frank is a renowned Dutch/Israeli dance-movement therapist, registered in the U.S. as BC-DMT.  Winner of ADTA Outstanding Achievement of year 2011. For 27 years, he has been working at Delta Psychiatric Centre, located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. For 24 years, he offers internships and supervises his students. Zvika was part of the committee of the Master Program Dance Therapy at Codarts, Rottderam and helped to develop the content of this program. For 13 years, he has been a supervisor and teacher for students at Codarts. Since 6 years, he is giving workshops in China; a combination of an introduction to DMT and therapy. 

About IICAT

Inspirees Institute of Creative Arts Therapy (IICAT) is the initiative of Inspirees International (Inspirees), a Dutch company founded in 2006.  The vision of IICAT is to become a leading professional institute providing high quality training in creative arts therapy.  Our program is internationally oriented; thus we invite the participation of students from all over the world.  IICAT was founded in 2012 by Mr. Boudewijn Heeren, Ms. Joan Wittig and Dr. Tony Zhou who have been involved with the development of the Inspirees dance therapy program in China since 2006.  As a pioneer in China, Inspirees has developed a three-year professional dance therapy training program in accordance with American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) guidelines for alternate route training and so far is the only institute in China which provides such level of training in China.
